Slate Digital ML-1
The ML-1 microphone is the centerpiece of the Virtual Microphone System. This large diaphragm mic has a shock-mounted, gold sputtered, 6-micron capsule and a state of the art FET circuit path that ensures the most linear, flat, and clean ‘blank canvas’ response. Combined with the Slate Digital tube microphone modeling software, it can sound like some of the most classic microphones in recording history.
Universal Audio Volt
The Universal Audio Volt 176 is a USB audio interface with one input and one output channels. With this interface, you can work with 24-bit depth and detailed 192kHz sampling thanks to high-quality AD/DA converters. In addition, there are microphone preamplifiers that provide a vintage mode for recordings. This emulates the sound of the legendary UA 610 microphone preamplifier. To make audio signals dynamically "rounder" even before digital conversion, the Volt 176 also has a compressor. With its help, the signal is not only simply processed, but rather modelled on the classic UA 1176, and thus provides an even more classic recording sound.
SSL 2
The SSL 2 is the first audio interface from the long-established British company Solid State Logic, which is most likely known to many musicians and sound engineers for its large mixing consoles. The 4000-series consoles (often referred to as "4K") have a legendary reputation and the SSL 2 interface is reminiscent of this series both visually and sonically. Each channel features a Legacy 4K button with which SSL have distilled two essential characteristics of the 4K sound into a single circuit, adding analogue colouration when the user needs to breathe some life into "dull" or "lifeless" sounding input sources, but more on that below. Apart from this special feature, the SSL 2 is a typical two-channel USB interface with LEDs and a large monitor mix control.
